[NEW MENU REVIEW] The time has come! One of my favorite Ramen House in Jakarta will be launching its New Menu Tomorrow, Sept 9th 2015! And I can summary this new menu with my own tagline "Now Everybody Can Eat IPPUDO!"
Well, the tagline doesn't refer to price reduction. lol sorry guys. Ippudo Indonesia has been really concerning about the major population who doesn't consume pork. I know that most Japanese Ramen Houses are popular with the Pork Based Soup and the Pork Belly itself. And this is such a big issue for most Indonesian with moslem population.
So not long ago, Ippudo introduced the first ever Chicken Based Ramen only for Indonesian Market. I certainly forgot the name, but once you enter the restaurant, you can see the big board with the new menu.
But this review is not about that menu. I'm talking about SAPPORO MISO RAMEN. This new menu consists of 2 variants: Buta Miso Ramen and Chicken Miso Ramen. Let's take a look!
BUTA MISO RAMEN - IDR 79.000
Buta Miso Ramen and Chicken Miso Ramen are basically the same chicken based broth with strong Miso Flavor as the soup. If you are new to the term Miso, it is basically paste (bumbu) made from fermented soybean and barley or rice malt.
Buta Means Pork. If you noticed my first photo in this blog, there are 2 bowls of Ramen: The Red and The White Bowls. The Red bowl is used to serve Pork menu while The White bowl is used to serve the Chicken menu. They separate these 2 bowls to respect the moslem consumers who demand Halal menu. Although the Miso Ramen is actually chicken based broth, but since Buta Miso Ramen is using Chasu (pork) as the topping, then they use the Red Bowl.
This is really my new Favorite in Ippudo! I mean, the soup was really thick and heavy, and most importantly the portion was gigantic! It is bigger than most Ramen in Jakarta. I love how they put some raw (unmelted) Butter on top of the ramen to enhance the flavor of the soup, but it won't make it any saltier.
The IDR 79.000 has been including half boiled egg.
CHICKEN MISO RAMEN - IDR 75.000
The soup is still the same as the Buta Miso Ramen. The only thing different is the chicken topping. The chicken was very soft and smooth, plus additional minced chicken.
I asked them why they choose curly noodle instead of the straight one. They said, the curly one is easier to take out the minced chicken together with the noodle. Now understand why!
The IDR 75.000 has been including half boiled egg. You can opt out the egg by choosing the standart one.
EXISTING MENU
SPICY CHICKEN RAMEN - IDR 65.000
If you take a look at the photo below, this Spicy Chicken Ramen is served with Red Hot Spicy Chili Paste on top of the Ramen. It is called IPPUDO CHILI BOM, which consists of 5 different chilis, including Cabe Rawit. I bet it is super duper hot and spicy! I could taste the cabe rawit because it is not an ordiary bottled chili sauce.
The soup itself is the lightest among all Ippudo Ramen. Some people like my mom can not eat the thick based soup. So this might be the choice.
TOKYO SHOYU CHICKEN RAMEN - IDR 63.000
This ramen has the same soup as Spicy Chicken Ramen above, but only without the Chili Bom.
SHIROMARU MOTOAJI
IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth served with ultra thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage & spring onions. Classic Hakata-style ramen.
The Tonkotsu broth is the best seller one. This is very recommended! If you were dilemma of which to choose, this must be you first choice!
AKAMARU SHINAJI
IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth enhanced with special blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil. Served with thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions, bean sprouts. A refined, modern-style ramen.
KARAKE MEN
IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth with special spicy miso, cashew nuts, bean sprouts & ground pork.
I certainly forgot the different between the last 3 ramens here, because they all are using tonkotsu broth. All were great for me!
COMPLIMENTARY
Ok this was SUPER GOOD! I don't know whats the name of this. But it is fried chicken fillet with special ingredients that made it very smooth inside and melted in your mouth! don't forget to dip it in the Cheese Sauce. OH MY DOG!
BEEF TEPPAN RICE
Hot steamy rice / tonkotsu rice served on sizzling hot plate, topped with beef, egg and cheese. The egg and cheese were cooked together on the side of the rice. Many people don't know that Ippudo also served Rice menu!
PANNACOTTA
Who ever thinking to have Pannacotta dessert in a Ramen Restaurant? I bet you dont. But this pannacotta is very special! the pudding was more firm than normal pannacotta, but thats make me love it. On top of that, there was some brown caramel sugar (liquid) and some chocolate powder. When you dig the pudding together with the caramel and chocolate powder, DAMN ADDICTING!
Overall, I was very satisfied with all of their menus! None of them was not good because every menu was cooked with Passion!
I know that this is not a Halal restaurant since they serve Pork menu. But for moslem friends, Don't worry! Because currently, they have separated the cooking utensils for pork and chicken in the kitchen. They also separate the eating utensils, from spoon, bowl, and chopstick for the pork and chicken menu. I have confirmed this with the Marketing person and they can make sure that the chicken menu + the eating utensils are 100% PORK FREE!
So, as I sad earlier, Now Everybody Can Eat IPPUDO!
