Frankly, I am not really into a dessert or pastry person! But this high tea set menu has attracted me to visit and have a try. So, what to order, which set menu, and how much per set? I'll review it more here
I wasn't really noticed with this place until I saw a food blogger posted this high tea set on his Instagram. The clean, neat and Classic European kind of table settings looks exclusive to my eyes. Though when I browsed the Menu Book, I realized its not as expensive as it looks.
The room is quite small and narrow, with just a few tables available. So, it is recommended to reserve by call before you come. Because when I arrived there, the long tables have been reserved. The rests are smaller round table for 4 - 5 persons. If you noticed in the past, it was used to be a tea house as well, before it turned to be this Bradley's British Tea House. Not sure if the owner was the same persons.
SET MENU 1 - IDR 150.000 Nett
Its a 3 level dessert set, which consists of:
- 2 Fruit Tarts
- 1 Victorian Sponge Cake
- Garlic Shrimp with Zucchini
- 1 Egg Salad Sandwich
- 2 Scones
I didn't try everything on the set, just some of them. So, my review is only based on what I tasted.
PROMOTION: Free Fusion Tea for every order of Set Menu on Weekdays (Correct me if I'm wrong)
The fruit tart's base was a little bit dry, the cream wasn't really sweet and the fruits were mostly sour (strawberry, kiwi and orange).
The Victorian Sponge Cake was fine, the cake's texture was soft with some whipped cream & strawberry as the middle filling and sugar icing on top. The shrimp was cooked with crushed garlic, butter, and Zucchini.
The egg salad sandwich is a hard toasted baguet with scrambled egg cooked with mayonnaise, mustard, miced garlic and chives. it was good! The scone (the brown one on the rear) was a Big NO NO! it was very rock hard both on the outer texture and the inside. I tried to bite it and I was scared of losing my teeth. Well, not that scary but honestly very tough! It came with whipped cream and Jam. The scone is supposed to be like a biscuit, right?
SET MENU 3 - IDR 215.000 Nett
This set menu consists of:
- 2 Scones
- 1 Raspberry Tart
- 1 Tres Leches (Sponge Cake)
- 2 Quiche Loraine
- Scrambled Egg with Smoked Salmon
The raspberry tart was real good! the top part was sweet and smooth, similar to cheese cake I guess. And then, Tres Leches is a sponge cake soaked with 3 kinds of milk. It was very soft and smooth as well, covered with cream for creamier texture. These both were very good!
The Scrambled Egg with Smoked Salmon was great with a croissant as the base. The quiche was actually good too, but somehow it was a little bit dry.
AGLIO OLIO - IDR 45.000 Nett.
ADD: SMOKE BEEF IDR 15.000 Nett.
MALABAR TEA - IDR 48.000 Nett.
There are 2 kinds of tea here: Pure Tea and Fusion Tea. Not sure whats the different. But all I know is, the pure tea is nonrefillable, while the Fusion Tea is refillable.
The Malabar tea is a typical black tea, my friend tried it, NOT me! So not sure how it tastes. But when I smelled it, it was similar to a common black tea. It didn't come with tea bag, so they pre-brewed the tea in the kitchen and served the tea pot with the tea ready to drink. The pot was nice tough.
PROMOTION: Free flow all Fusion Tea every monday (quoted from their Instagram Acc)
The overall taste of the set menu wasn't as great as I thought it would be. Some of the cakes were dry and hard to bite. Although, the plating and the room decorations are fancy and cute. Great for Instagram :p
