We got a chance to try this hidden authentic Korean restaurant in STC Senayan and had a pleasure meeting the Korean Chef. They served such different & anti mainstream kind of Korean dishes here. A few that we tried here were really new to us and in fact very unique. The picture above is with the Chef. Let's have a look :)
Started off with their appetizers. I loved their Kimchi, its not too sour & perfect spiciness. Its hard to explain but certainly different from other kimchi. The fresh veggie (the 1st picture) was also nice with a kind of balsamic vinegratte dressing.
This is also part of their appetizers, not sure what it was but it tasted kinda of pumpkin or sweet potato.
DUBU JEONGOL (220K)
Tofu Hot Pot in a clear soup with veggie, mushroom and tofu. The soup was very light, like a healthy soup because it was kinda plain. A little more seasonings would be great, but not my kind of Korean dish.
SOGOGI SAMHAP (130K)
This is a stack of beef, mushroom and clams. The beef was really fragrant, the mushroom was great, but the clams was underpowered by the other twos. But overall its a really great dish.
MANEUL GANJANG DENG GALBI GUI (250K)
Grilled Back Pork Ribs with soy sauce and fried garlic. Its sweet, slightly salty, and savory. The meat was so tender and juicy, it reminded me of Bak Kut Teh :) But this is really great with rice actually because the flavor was super strong. The fried garlic makes it more fragrant. This is sharable for 2 people.
KONGGUKSU (75K)
If you are interested to try some new stuff, then you probably want to try this. Despite not my favorite dish here, this cold served noodle in Soy Milk broth certainly gives a new noodle dining experience. The soup was served cold with ice, very thick in soy milk and almost plain in flavor. Its slightly sweet and savory, there's a great potential here if they add more seasonings. The Chef itself didn't really like this, he said. But this dish is popular in Korea especially when its summer where you want to have some cold food to chill your body.
This is a complimentary gingery drink, very fresh, fragrant, and a bit warm on your throat. If I'm not mistaken, this drink is kind of fermented for almost a day before being served.
KKUL HOTTEOK (40K)
Last but not least, their dessert! This is a Korean Pancake made from rice cakes filled with honey. The top was sprikled with sugar and some brown icing like brown sugar maybe. Its really delicious especially when served warm, because the dough was soft and smooth.
[SUMMARY] Its indeed very authentic Korean, the room was very dimmed but still very private and comfortable. Their Grilled Back Pork Ribs is THE BEST part of our dinner here. We would probably have a try on their Bibimbap on our next visit here, they said its totally different from what we normally have out there :)
