When the first time I heard about Tugu Kunstkring, my mind was thinking about old style Indonesian Dutch restaurant. And that was true when we first saw the old style building from the outside. That really reminded me of a dutch colonial building. By the time I stepped into the building, I was like jaw-dropping. It was super elegant, exotic and mystical, a combination of traditional Indonesian heritage with some touches of Dutch influence. The table arrangement was so beautiful with crystal wine glasses, and luxurious european-palace style table decorations. Take a peek on the room here!
The Dutch influence on the building, this is the entrance door.
Welcome to Tugu Kunstkring Paleis!
Imagine having a luxurious dinner back in 1940s
When in Tugu Kunstkring Paleis, NEVER miss their Rijsttafel Betawi ~ a set of dishes in small bowls presented in a traditional betawi cart and showcased with some traditional Betawi dance & music. It was truely festive! I really felt like being a tourist for a day.
The Rijsttafel Betawi set is good for up to 5 people! Everything was unbelievably delicious, like seriously take my word! Flavor wise, they were all very balance between sweet, salty and savory.
As for the drinks, we highly recommend Mystique (fresh mint, dark grape juice, brown sugar, fresh lime) and Honey Ginger Apple ( fresh apple, apple syrup, honey, ginger, apple juice).
They actually have some secret VIP rooms on the second floor, but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to see them. But honestly, this is the very first time we had a fine Indonesian food in a totally new experience. Thank you for the hospitality!
