Excited! For the very first time visiting Grand Cafe at Grand Hyatt Jakarta. And apparently this is the all new Grand Cafe because they officially opened for public on 15 May 2018 for the first time this year after a huge renovation. Its ashamed that we had never been here before, but glad that the new one was amazing. They put the simplest concept into a super beautiful restaurant. Once you step in, you'll be amazed at their idea of a 'luxurious Home' where there are living room, dining room, kitchen, study room, private room and even balcony. Yes, you can sit anywhere that fits you, except for the kitchen where they organize all the food stations. The new Grand Cafe also comes up with a new "Cook to Order" concept, we'll talk about it later. We'll lets check out what we experienced here!
They have what they call 'Beranda' which is actually the front corridor of a house, where home owner usually welcome guests. Unfortunately we didn't take photo here. So, let's move on to the next room which is the dining room. It is very minimalist but at the same time very luxurious. We love the brown pastel color on every single corner of the room, it simply feels comfortable.
This is their private room, a super ethnical room with batik on the wall and traditional wooden congklat game on the table. So pretty! Not sure if there is any T&C for using this room.
Moving on to the Lounge room where guests normally have some drinks or chit-chat over some snacks. You can tell from the sofa, pillow, and low table.
This is the middle of the house where guests gather for some drinks at the bar. Or you can call it a meeting room with a big square table in the middle of the room.
This is actually the study room with lots of books on the wall.
This is the Balcony with clear glass covering 80% of the room. The view itself is facing the Sudirman street. Personally this is the least favorite room amongst all rooms.
This is where all the food come from, THE KITCHEN! One confession: its not the biggest food selections in a five star hotel. You can actually count how many food stations in this Kitchen: Martabak Telor, Satay, Bebek Betutu, Bakso & Noodle, Sop Buntut, Jajanan Pasar, Seafood, and Desserts. Also we can say that 90% of the food during this Ramadan is Indonesian food. So don't expect something like Japanese sushi, Chinese Peking Duck, Indian curry, etc.
However, they come up with "Cook to Order" menus whereas they cook the food when you order. For example: this below is their Bakso & Noodle station. When you order the noodle, the chef will cook the noodle and the veggies. But well, you can still grab some ready to eat food on the station, for example Bakwan, Tempe or anything available.
Petite Gado Gado
The satay station is one of the most popular ones. They have chicken, beef and lamb, and they all were pretty good with sweet soy sauce or peanut sauce.
Their Sop Buntut was good (if not the best). There could be improvement on the seasonings, but the meat was very tender!
Martabak Telor Station

For the desserts, they have this two beautiful roll cakes which we unfortunately didn't try. They also have some shaved iced desserts like cincau and es kelapa, just next to this roll cake.
Last but not least, the ice cream! There are only 5 flavors as far as what we saw: Mango, espresso, chocolate, vanilla, and 1 more flavor that we forgot. The chocolate itself is freshly made in which the chocolate fruit is harvested from local produces in Java.
So here's to wrap up our dinner: fresh & tasty Indonesian food of course. Taste wise could be improved, because our 'Indonesian Tongue' has been used to strong seasonings although some like Sop Buntut and Sate were pretty nice. Interior and ambiance are absolutely beautiful. Definitely the perfect place to break-fast during this Ramadan.
