Nam Nam Noodle Bar ~ Petitenget, Bali

Just came back from Bali a few weeks ago from 26 May to 1 June 2018 and left a lot of memories. Including this newly opened Nam Nam Noodle Bar at Petitenget, the 4th branch in Indonesia after 3 branches in Jakarta. I have to admit that lately I've been short of time to write more blog posts than I did 1-2 years ago. So, at the time of this blog writing, I was actually just came back home from Jogjakarta. I decided to write a quick review for my most favorite Vietnamese Restaurant in Indonesia! Let's check it out.

Nam Nam Noodle Bar has been quite popular for its super delicious Vietnamese Pho. The broth is known for its intense beefy flavor with a unique modern Vietnamese twist including the premium meat toppings such as quality Australian Beef. What I always remember from my first time having it at Senayan City is the truffle pho, it was unbelievable like who ever thought Pho and Truffle could work together! And so I was very excited that they are now available at Petitenget, very close to where I stayed in Bali.

Their outdoor area was really beautiful with its vast green paddy field. If you've been to Sardine in Bali, well they both located at a pretty similar location with paddy field on their backyard. Well done to their interior as well, very beautifully concepted!

Well I'm going to kick off this review with my most favorite dish: Vietnamese Pho! Spicy and beefy broth with beef slices, meatballs, beef tripes (babat) and chicken (100k). It was definitely one of the best Phos I've ever had! Seriously no kidding, I love the spicy soup with that generous beef slices. I can definitely finish two bowls of this, I swear it was that good!

This dry pho is something new to try! Though I have to admit that this is not my favorite one here, but if you're looking for a new Vietnamese pho then you have to give it a try! Its actually plain boiled white noodle with sweet tender pork and fried prawn, poured over with sweet and spicy dressing. Then mix them all together, you'll get to taste sweet and mild spicy dry noodle. If you're wondering how's the taste of the dressing, well imagine the taste of Thailand's sweet and spicy sambal :)

If you're looking for some rice dishes, then you might want to try this Shrimp and Pork Rice (only available at Seminyak and PIK outlets). The rice is cooked with coconut milk, probably similar to nasi uduk but its more wet and sticky. Flavor wise, it was more to sweet side. The shrimp and pork were sweet with that beautiful round fried egg on top.

Young papaya & carrot Salad with Soft Shell Crab and fried tempe (80k). Papaya was fresh and young with that crunchy texture mixed with sweet dressing.

Sweet Pork Belly Bahn Bao (60k) ~ thin slice pork belly with sweet and soft white bao.

Last but not the least, Bahn Xeo aka Vietnamese Pancake similar to crepes! The thin dough was pretty crunchy, filled with sweet pork and shrimp. The unique thing here is that you can eat it with fresh lettuce wrapping the pancake then dipped into their special fish sauce. Pretty good actually for my very first try of this unique dish.
