Came here on 14 July 2018 and knew it from a friend of us who visited here the day before! They were 2 weeks old by the time we visited here and they just introduced their complete dining menus. Plunge Dining & Co is located at Jalan Pesanggrahan, Kembangan, West Jakarta. Its not a big cafe in terms of physical size, but we truly enjoyed their unique food creations (especially their breakfast/ brunch menus). We won't categorize this as a coffee shop, simply because they serve good food and service you just like in a fine dining restaurant. There's one staff dressed up in a formal suit serving you the best 5 star dining service, its in-between nice but unusual for a small cafe (especially around West Jakarta). Interior wise they are very minimalist like literally so minimal decoration. Let's check out our dining experience here.
This is their coffee machine, we are not familiar with coffee roasting/brewing thingy. So, anyone can help us answer it?
We peeked at their second floor while going to their toilet (only on the second floor). Its more spacious then the first floor, though it felt like too quiet (unless they turn on some music).
Let's straight up to their menus! We (especially Jeffri)
are a fan of Western/ Aussie style brunch menus, so it was really exciting to find out some great brunch menus in the West (where cafes are mainly mainstream and similar). Since they open as early as 8 AM (Tuesday - Sunday), they serve breakfast menus alongside their all day dining menus. Here we tried two breakfast menus with some coffee and chocolate drink.
Jeffri tried their hot cappucinno (hot 33k/ iced 38k) and Lucy tried hot chocolate. Both were pretty decent, the art on the coffee was perfect! We remember the earliest time we learned to drink coffee was in 2015 when we were catching up for new cafes and taking photos of a cup of coffee with beautiful latte art (for the sake of Instagram post). By that, we were forced to drink and to like the coffee, despite we didn't actually drink coffee.
Plunge Breakfast Platter (86k) - Toast with strawberry jam & butter, wagyu beef sausages, soft bacon, sauteed mushroom, roasted cherry tomatoes, tater tots (fried potato) and a choice of egg your style. This is very big, bigger than most breakfast dish we've ever had in town! And you can tell from the picture below that it is very generous. We love aragula leaves, its just raw, tasty and healthy!
Avocado Smash (66k) - smashed avocado, homemade salsa, feta cheese, sous vide egg on toast. We've tried a few different style of smashed avocado mostly in Jakarta, Bali, Sydney & Melbourne, but this one is quite different! The homemade salsa which consists of onion, cherry tomato and olives bring exotic, fresh and earthy flavor while the black balsamic vinaigrette dressing brings unique sweet flavor. These salsa and black dressing somehow balance the flavor of fresh bland avocado. The pretty edible flowers bring cheer and positive mood for those who look at them :)
Overall, we had a pleasant lunch and nice services, though IMHO they could make up the interior prettier than that. Foods were delicious, drinks were decent. Definitely recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner around West Jakarta! Thank you guys for reading.
